Helping People Back To Work

Our experience of delivering welfare-to-work programmes has enabled us to :

  • Provide 861 long-term unemployed young people (aged 18 to 24) with jobs, through the Future Jobs Fund programme, right across the region. The majority of these were ‘green jobs’ carrying out practical environmental conservation and amenity horticulture tasks.
  • 37 of those 861 jobs were created within the Arts and Culture sector.
  • Work with Working Links to provide 411 long-term unemployed people with 4 week work experience placements carrying out practical environmental conservation work. This work took place in Plymouth and Exeter, under the Flexible New Deal programme.
  • Work with Prospects to support 72 long-term unemployed young people through the Community Task Force programme, in Plymouth. We provided Information, Advice and Guidance services, including job search activities.

Our Future Jobs Fund programme work was delivered through 9 different contracts; national contracts with Groundwork UK, our own SW regional contract and as a major deliverer in Dorset, Somerset, Swindon, Bristol, Devon/Torbay and Plymouth. We met or exceeded every single target attached to these 9 contracts and so most of them were extended – and met again!

Of the Future Jobs Fund participants that we have been able to track, an amazing 63% had found work.
