Local authorities and public sector agencies are some of the most important, long-standing partners that Groundwork has. We have worked closely for over 20 years with local authorities across the South West, to help them shape their places and improve local quality of life.
We can work with you to develop and deliver bespoke projects that respond effectively to the needs of your local communities. Our work support the current drive for local responses and community engagement, including delivery of the Big Society agenda.
Importantly we are often able to take local authority investments and use them to lever in additional funding, either through national Groundwork partnerships with corporate sponsors (such as M&S or Cadbury), charitable grants and other income sources that we can access. This ensures great value for money for local authorities and local tax payers.
For some local authorities we deliver contracted services, such as running the Weston Mill Recycling Centre for Plymouth City Council, or Community Learning sessions for Bristol City Council. At other times our relationship requires us to be more entrepreneurial or innovative in shaping solutions to local issues, such as developing youth provision in St Austell for Cornwall Council or greening an awkward, neglected urban space in Swindon.
In many areas Groundwork is actively involved in local cross-sector partnerships, working together to achieve more viable, vibrant and sustainable communities.
How is your area moving towards a low carbon economy?
From structured volunteering to formal placements with employers, we help people move towards employment.
We seek to harness a crucial catalyst for change: community pride.
