Corporate Volunteering

For over 20 years we have delivered projects and services across the most disadvantaged areas of the South West with partners from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors  that have supported ‘People, Places and Prosperity’.

What underpins all of our activities is our drive to support sustainable communities. We understand that means economic, environmental and social sustainability.

Groundwork’s approach to working with private sector companies is based on achieving outcomes linked directly to the organisation’s values and strategy, and responding to the identified needs of local communities.

Groundwork has a strong track record in working with the corporate partners including Barclays, Marks & Spencer, Bond Pearce and Cadburys.

As well as offering the opportunity to get involved in a broad range of existing projects, we are experienced in running a wide variety of activities for businesses and staff teams, including:

  • Practical conservation volunteering
  • Community or beach clean ups
  • Community fun days
  • It’s a Knock-Out style games and team building events
  • Multi-sports days
  • Ecological surveying, e.g. butterflies, bats, birds

All activities are planned and managed by Groundwork staff and include liaison with our client. All risk assessments are carried out by Groundwork and all staff are CRB checked.

Corporate Volunteering Activities

For example, Groundwork could provide a one day staff volunteering activity for a team of 10 staff. The focus might be on a short-term intervention in a specified local area, with a significant, visual impact to transform a public space.

Our services would include;

  • Identification of a suitable site option, including site visit and risk assessment
  • Securing approval from landowner, community groups or other stake-holders
  • Liaison on dates and logistical arrangements
  • Event planning
  • Provision of materials, tools and equipment
  • Health and safety briefing, including use of tools and skills needed
  • Groundwork staff to supervise the activity
  • Travel and refreshments could be arranged as an additional option, at a further cost.
